Norma-Jean Bothmer

 

born and raised outside of Chicago

attended Rhode Island School of Design and received her BFA from Yale University

One person exhibitions include: Graham Gallery, David Herbert Gallery, Benson Gallery and The Lobby Gallery ( a public space curated by Lanny Powers). She has been included in the following museum group exhibitions: The Art Institute of Chicago, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, Finch College Museum, The Guild Hall Museum and The Drawing Center.  She was shown in the Penthouse Gallery at The Museum of Modern Art and in the Art Lending Service at The Museum of Modern Art,  American Federation of Arts, Arts Club (Chicago), Byron Gallery, Graham Gallery, Hirshl and Adler Gallery, David Herbert Gallery, Ruth Alexander Gallery (Atlanta), Louis Alexander Gallery, Kasha Heman Gallery (Chicago), Achim Moeller Gallery, Andre Zarre Gallery, Gulbenkian Galleries, The Royal College of Art, The Last Book, a project curated by Luis Caminzer, Leslie Heller Workplace (summer of 2012) and a benefit exhibition sponsored by Satchi and Satchi.

 

Her drawings were exhibited at Art Rotterdam and her work is in the Permanent collections of Finch College Museum and The Brooklyn Museum.

 

She has taught drawing and color at Columbia University School of Architecture. The N.Y. Herald Tribune, Money Magazine, Art News, Art International, Arts Magazine, Time Magazine, and The New Yorker have reviewed her work and has been included in the following books: My Life in Art, by Katherine Kuh and On Drawing, by Roger Winter and Drawing Papers 67, The Drawing Center.
